Digi Tech & Cyber Safety: Yr 3/4 Coders

During Digi Tech lessons this semester, our Year 3/4 students have enjoyed using our LEGO WeDo 2.0 kits to build and explore a range of designs, including Milo the Science Rover and a race car. Through these hands-on STEM challenges, students worked collaboratively to follow step-by-step instructions to construct successful builds before getting creative with modifications to make their designs their own. They then coded their creations to bring them to life!
Students have also continued to build on their coding skills using Scratch, where they have been learning to animate their names. By experimenting with different sprites, movements and effects, they have been developing their problem solving and computational thinking skills.
Last term, our Year 3/4 students spent time reflecting on their online behavior by completing a Digital Habits survey. The students answered the questions thoughtfully and honestly, giving us some fascinating insights into how they interact with technology both in and out of the classroom that will help guide our future cyber safety and digital citizenship discussions.

Have you ever seen something online that felt weird, scary or made you uncomfortable?
How can we check that someone is who they say they are online?
