1/2SC - The Last Look

It's hard to believe we're already in Term 4. It's been wonderful to see how much the children have grown throughout the year, both in their learning and in the friendships they've made along the way.

We’ve had a great start to the term, with everyone settling back into their routines and getting stuck into their learning. We have lots of exciting activities planned and are looking forward to making more special memories together. We will be sad to say goodbye to our amazing 1/2SC class! Here are some of the highlights from this term and our year together.

Literacy

The children enjoyed writing and illustrating booklets about their school holiday adventures and sharing these with their peers.

We have also been reading Possum Magic by Mem Fox and are exploring the different parts of a narrative, including characters, setting, problem, solution, beginning, middle and end. We have been discussing how authors create stories and what makes a story interesting. We will soon be putting our learning into practice by writing our own narrative stories, and the children are very excited to become authors themselves!

Mathematics

In Mathematics, we have been learning about position, directions and pathways. Students have been practising how to give and follow directions to move people and objects within a space. We have also been learning how to locate and identify where objects and features are positioned in two-dimensional maps and pictures. The students have enjoyed using positional language such as left, right, front, back, next to and between as they followed different pathways and directions.

Highlights from our year!

Brianna: My favourite thing this year was the Melbourne ZOO excursion because I enjoyed looking at the snow leopards and their new cub. I will miss having Miss Mal as my LSO.

Alexander : I have enjoyed going to the Melbourne Zoo this year because there were lots of animals and lizards. I also enjoyed doing the presentations in class because I got to talk in front of my friends. I will miss Mrs Sison and Ms Mal because they help me learn.

Mila: The highlight of this year for me, was doing Maths test and Maths games on the Ipads. I will miss all the year 2s when they go to grade 3 next year .

Ethan: The best part of my year was the art show and seeing my art work on display. I also really enjoyed going to the Melbourne Zoo because I love animals. I will miss learning with my friends.

Evie : The thing I enjoyed the most this year was the Footy Colours day because I got to dress up in my favourite footy team colours. I will miss my classroom and having Mrs Sison, Ms Cunningham and Ms Mal.

Annabelle: My favourite thing this year was going to the Melbourne Zoo excursion because I love animals and we got to see the beautiful Giraffes. I will miss being in 1/2 SC.

Alessia: I enjoyed going to the Melbourne Zoo because we got to see some animals that we learnt about in class. I also loved wearing my footy team colours to Footy Colours Day. I will miss having Mrs Sison and Ms Cunnigham as my teachers and Ms Mal and Ms Riley as my LSOs.

Sebi: My favourite thing this year was the school disco because I got to dance and have fun with my friends. I will miss Mrs Sison teaching me and Ms Mal helping because they're the best. I will miss having my name on the caddy.

Alan: My highlights this year were learning division in Maths and visiting Melbourne Zoo, where I learnt about animals. I will miss my classroom because I have been in this class for two years.

Matthias: The best part of my year was the toy incursion because there were lots of toys to play with and learnt about old toys. I will miss Mrs Sison as my teacher because she has taught me so much this year.

Daniel: The thing I enjoyed the most this year was going to the SJV Art Show because all the art were cool and creative. I also liked going to the Melbourne Zoo because we got to see and learn about all different animals. I will miss Ms Cunningham because she was calm.

Gurnishaan: My favourite thing this year was visiting Melbourne Zoo, where I learnt interesting facts about animals and saw my favourite animals, tigers and lions. I will miss this classroom and Mrs Sison because she is kind and has taught me so much.

Tahlia: I enjoyed learning how to use number lines in Maths. I also loved going to the school Disco because I got to dress up and dance to my favourite song “Who let the dogs out ?” I will miss being with Mrs Sison, Ms Cunningham and Ms Mal.

Henry: My favourite thing this year was Book Week because I got an origami book from the book fair. I also enjoyed learning about the history of toys from the past. I will miss Mrs Sison because she is the best teacher and also Ms Cunningham and all my class friends.

Elijah : The highlight of my year was Indonesian day because I like learning Indonesian with Pak Kris. I will miss this class because I felt very welcomed when I joined in.

Matheiu : I enjoyed learning about time and using the clocks in Maths. I really liked Book Week because there were lots of books at the book fair. I will miss my teachers who taught me and my classmates because I play with them a lot.

Sarah: I enjoyed the school Disco the most this year because I love to dance and I got to dress up. I really enjoyed learning about writing narratives because I like books and it helped me to be a better writer. I will miss Mrs Sison and Ms Mal because they are very nice and helpful teachers.

Emily : My favourite thing to learn about this year was writing because it was fun and helped me improve my spelling. I also enjoyed Book Week because I got to dress up as my favourite book character. I will miss 1/2SC because I love this class and my teachers are kind and caring.

William : I enjoyed the toy incursion the most because I like toys and learnt a lot about old toys and their history . I liked learning about division because I like sharing with others. I will miss Mrs Sison because she teaches me and takes her time to help me.

Leo: The best part of my year was Footy colours day because I got to wear my footy team colours and join the parade. I liked learning about multiplication in maths because I like to do rows and columns to help me count. I will miss my friends and class because it was a very good year.

Elise: The highlight of my year was goin to the Melbourne Zoo excursion because I got to see a lot of animals and learnt about habitats. I liked learning and working in Visual Arts because I got to paint. I will miss my teachers because they taught me a lot and were patient and kind.

Cody: My favorite thing to learn about this year was learning about animals and going to the Melbourne Zoo. I also liked learning about division in maths because I like numbers. I will miss Ms Mal helping me and my teachers.
