Safe School Travel and Road Safety Reminders

Slow down and stay alert around our school

  • Students can be unpredictable, so always stay alert when driving through our school zone
  • School zones vary, so be sure to take note of the 40km signs when you travel through these areas.
  • Ensuring your child gets in and out of the car door on the kerbside helps keep them safe from traffic.

Always use designated crossing points

  • Set a good example for your children by always using designated crossing points.
  • Do not call your child from across the road and encourage them to cross at designated crossing points.
  • Give way to pedestrians at crossing flag areas.
  • Remember to stop until everyone has left the crossing, including the school crossing supervisor.

Park smart - do not park on yellow lines or in no standing zones

  • Only park where parking is permitted, fines apply for parking on yellow lines or in loading zones.
  • Do not queue over the crossing. This area is marked with ‘no stopping’ or ‘no standing’ signs or a yellow edge line.
  • Getting fined for stopping in no standing zones is a very real possibility. Please check signs when stopping or parking near our school zone. These signs are in place to improve traffic flow, improve visibility and most importantly, keep our students and members of our community safe.
  • Do not double park. Double-parking is illegal and it puts our students in the danger zone as other drivers may not see them as they get in or out of the car.
  • Do not park in bus zones. Buses need space to properly reach stops and let passengers on and off safely via the footpath. Parking in a Bus zone puts you, your passengers, other motorists and road users at risk. Fines and loss of demerit points apply for parking in bus zones.
