Junior School Bulletin

Thank you to the parents and carers who were able to attend our Shaping Lighthouse Together: Junior School Parent Forum on Monday morning. It was wonderful to come together to discuss how Lighthouse can best support engagement in your child’s educational life, including communication, information sharing and what feels most meaningful for families. We truly value the feedback shared and look forward to continuing these collaborative conversations through future sessions.
It was lovely to see our Pre‑Prep students engaging in road safety learning this week as part of Road Safety Week. Students brought their bikes and scooters to school and took part in practical, hands‑on activities focused on being safe road users. Through play-based experiences, they practised following markings, recognising signs, slowing down appropriately and carefully checking before moving forward - an enjoyable and meaningful way to build early safety awareness.
Junior School Winter Uniform - Final Reminder
As communicated previously, the transition week for winter uniform has now concluded. A reminder that from Monday, students will be required to wear the full Winter Uniform. Thank you for your support and cooperation as we move into the winter term. For any queries, please refer to the Clayfield College Uniform Policy below or contact the Uniform Shop.
Mother’s Day Stall - Thank You
A heartfelt thank you to Courtney Norris, all parent volunteers and our Facilities and Advancement Teams who contributed to the success of our Mother’s Day Stall.
The time, care and effort given before, during and after the stall were greatly appreciated, and the feedback from families has been overwhelmingly positive. The quality of gifts and the organisation on the day were outstanding, and we hope all mother figures enjoyed a very special Mother’s Day.
Andrews Cup Cross Country
Congratulations to all students who represented Clayfield College at the Andrews Cup Cross Country on Tuesday at Limestone Park, Ipswich. Our students are to be commended for their commitment, determination and positive attitude, both throughout their training and on the day of the event.
There were some excellent performances, with several outstanding individual and team efforts on display. It was wonderful to see students supporting one another and demonstrating resilience and sportsmanship across the course. Detailed results from the competition can be found in the Sports Bulletin section of the Collective.
A sincere thank you to all staff who supported the event, with special mention to Ms Amy Lewin for her leadership, organisation and the training opportunities provided in the lead‑up to the competition.
Opus 2 Concert
Tonight we are excited to see our students perform in the Opus 2 Concert. Good luck to all students and staff involved, your commitment does not go unnoticed, and thank you to families for their continued support of music and performance across the College.
National Road Safety Week
Being safe is an important focus for our Pre-Prep children. Ahead of National Road Safety Week, they were overjoyed to bring their scooters, bikes and tricycles to school on Tuesday. The Amphitheatre was transformed into a network of roads for the children to explore while riding their own vehicles. They practised following the lines, reading the signs, slowing down and carefully checking left and right for oncoming traffic and pedestrians before moving forward.
Illuminate in Upper Junior
We are delighted to share the exciting start of the Illuminate Program for our Year 5 and 6 students. Through a series of engaging provocations, students have begun exploring what it means to share our planet, considering how resources are distributed and the impact this has on communities and the environment. They have worked collaboratively to brainstorm global issues that matter to them and have been introduced to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as a framework for their thinking. This week, students are refining their ideas and selecting a focus for their personal inquiry, developing a central idea to guide their learning. Their questions, reflections, and wonderings have already been thoughtful and inspiring, and we look forward to seeing how their inquiries develop.
In Years 3 and 4, Illuminate students have been actively building their numeracy skills through engaging challenges with Mrs Patterson. They have participated in number talks, explored a range of problem-solving strategies, and worked collaboratively to solve questions while discussing and justifying their thinking. It has been wonderful to see their confidence grow as they share ideas and develop deeper mathematical understanding.
