Foundation Day Service 2025: A Celebration of Legacy and Community
On Friday 9 May, the Girton Grammar School community gathered at the Sacred Heart Cathedral for our annual Foundation Day Service. In honour of our 'Year of Mattering', our 2025 service celebrated the generations of Girtonians who have added lasting value to our school.
In her Principal's Address, Dr Emma O’Rielly traced the journeys of several influential figures in Girton's history, from school leaders and Board members to benevolent members of the parent community. She emphasised the essential role that each group has played, and continues to play, in building a culture of mattering and creating the nurturing school environment that we enjoy today. The service was further enriched by the uplifting prayers of our School Chaplain, Reverend Karen Reid, and captivating music from our talented Music Department.
As we acknowledged the hard work, kindness and generosity uniting Girtonians of the past and present, we were reminded that our history is a living narrative and each moment has the potential to become one that matters. The event set the stage for an exciting year ahead, filled with opportunities for each of us to make our own mark on the vibrant canvas that is the Girton story.
