Next week, from Monday 19 to Sunday 25 October 2026, Australians will head into their backyards for BirdLife Australia’s annual Aussie Bird Count.
Help us shine a light on Aussie birds and the Australians who love them.

Taking part is easy!
20 minutes - Just spend 20 minutes in your favourite outdoor space and tell us about the birds you see during that period.
Count the birds - You can submit your results using the app or the web form.
Bird finder - There’s a built-in “bird finder” tool to help you identify birds you’re unsure of.
Submit your count - You can count as many times as you want. Every count helps.
Each count takes just 20 minutes and can help BirdLife Australia track how our urban bird populations are faring – and just by counting, you’ll go into the running to win some incredible prizes.
