Principal's Report
Kaylene Kubeil
We had a bit of a different week, as on Tuesday, thousands of Victorian teachers, including many from Whittlesea Primary School, went on strike, taking industrial action over school funding and a range of working conditions. Led by the Australian Education Union, teachers took this action for the first time in 13 years. Whilst the strike disrupted schools across the state, we hope it will prompt further negotiations and positive outcomes with the Victorian Government, thereby reducing any further disruptions for our students and families.
On behalf of the Whittelsea Primary School AEU sub-branch, I would like to thank everyone for the positive support.

Celebrating Belonging on Neighbour Day
This week, I had the pleasure of attending the Whittlesea Community Activity Centre (WCAC) with our School Captains, Ava, Sam, Aran and Cadence and SVT Captain, Niran, who will be attending this event to represent Whittlesea Primary School. A key part of this project was not just the artwork, but also the opportunity for the City of Whittlesea to encourage residents to celebrate Neighbour Day (the last Sunday of March) to foster community connections and reduce loneliness. Apart from enjoying a delicious afternoon tea (provided by the Whittlesea Secondary College Hospitality class), we witnessed the unveiling of a community artwork that will remain at the WCAC for years to come. Next time you are visiting there, make sure you keep an eye out for our 'pieces of the puzzle'.

I would like to warmly welcome those members of our school community who have new tenures (all of which are 2 years): Matt Kirkight, Stephanie Carroll, Kim Morgan, Bronwen Kolotelo, Casey Brown, and Nicole Jenkins. These members will be joining: Lyle Winter, Shelby Toulson, Susan Leeson, Anna Larken, Rae Gittos and myself. The first meeting for 2026 will be next Tuesday, 31st March, which will be our AGM, followed by the first meeting of the 2026 configuration.

Enjoy your weekends,
Kaylene
