This Term in the art room, students have been exploring printmaking techniques.

The Junior school began by experimenting with texture, creating rubbings from a variety of objects. Building on this, they moved into mono-printing using gelli plates and fallen leaves collected from our deciduous trees.

Through these activities, students have observed and reflected on the changing season and its impact on the natural environment, while also learning about the Kulin Nation season of ‘Waring’ (wombat season).

In the Senior school, students have been focusing on the art element of ‘line’ to develop their drawing skills. These exercises draw on principles of Op Art, using repetition and variation of simple lines to create optical illusions. These tasks highlight how powerful lines can be when used en masse, demonstrating that even simple elements can have a strong visual impact.
