Year 5/6 News

Word Work
This week in Word Work, we are learning to identify and apply spelling patterns when writing words. We will explore base words, prefixes and suffixes, and investigate how adding an affix can change the meaning of a word. We will also practise identifying important ideas in texts and recording information using key words and short phrases rather than copying directly. These skills will support us as we continue to develop our vocabulary, spelling and reading fluency.
Maths
In Maths, we are learning to collect, check, organise and represent data to answer questions. Students will practise recording data in spreadsheets and presenting their findings using tables and graphs. We will also learn how to identify the mode, describe what the data shows and use the information we have collected to answer questions. Through these activities, students will develop their ability to interpret and communicate information clearly.
