In the earliest days of our lives, stories are one of the ways we make sense of the world. We see ourselves in characters, learn from them, explore with them and find comfort in the friendships we discover between the pages of a book or on screen. For many of us, this eventually grows into creating stories of our own, scribbled in notebooks with felt tip pens or acted out with friends, worlds built entirely from our imaginations.

At Kilvington, we nurture this instinct to imagine and tell stories, recognising the important role storytelling plays in how young people understand themselves and the world around them. From imaginative play in the early years to writing, performing and sharing ideas as students grow, stories give us a way to explore different perspectives and communicate what matters to us. Sometimes those stories follow us long after we leave the classroom.

This September we are delighted to celebrate three published authors whose own literary journeys began at Kilvington, with a special evening of conversation, storytelling and the official launch of Year 9 student Jerome McClimont’s debut novel, Echo.

The evening will explore the enduring power of stories to connect us, from the stories we create as children to the books we eventually share with the world. There will be a panel discussion, audience Q&A, light refreshments and an opportunity to connect with fellow members of the Kilvington community.

Come along for a relaxed and engaging evening celebrating Kilvington authors past and present, and help us cheer on current student Jerome McClimont as he launches his first book, Echo.
