Chinese Dragon Dancers

Students and staff recently enjoyed a vibrant cultural presentation by the Lion Heart Association of Alice Springs, who visited the school to mark the Lunar New Year celebrations.

The troupe delivered an energetic lion dance performance, showcasing dynamic movement, rhythm and colour while sharing the cultural significance behind the tradition. Lion dance is performed to bring blessings, prosperity and strength for the year ahead, while also helping preserve important cultural heritage within the community.

This year marks the Year of the Horse, a zodiac sign associated with energy, determination and success, and students also learned the traditional greeting for the occasion — Gong Xi Fa Cai — meaning “wishing you prosperity.”

The presentation provided students with an engaging opportunity to experience this tradition first hand and to celebrate the Lunar New Year together as a school community.
