Eltham High School Students Selected to Represent Australia
Eltham High School Volleyballers Xanthe Watson-Jones (Year 11, Toner House), Kennedy Cesari-Ford (Year 11, Everard House), and Alisa Kayukov (Year 11, Skipper House) have been selected to represent Australia in upcoming international tours. Xanthe, Kennedy and Alisa have been long time Volleyballers who have consistently represented our school to a high standard. We are sure they will do the same when playing in the green and gold. Below is an excerpt from Xanthe about the process to selection.
Early in 2024, Kennedy, Alisa and I were all selected to be a part of the Australian Youth Women's Squad. This meant we would be training in the National Performance Program which includes elite athletes from across Australia. Mayra, another Eltham High School student, was also selected in the 2010 NPP. In December, a training camp was held, and we trained in Toowoomba for a week under some amazing head coaches such as Kelly Lean (Former Australian Captain), Denusia sipa Beauregard, Russel Borgeud (Head of VA) and Nicole Hannan (Former Olympian). The camp was such a wonderful experience and definitely has helped improve our skills and techniques as well as overall athletes.
Recently Kennedy was selected to be part of a team that will represent Australia on tour in Japan and then shortly after Alisa and I was selected to be part of a team that will represent Australia on a tour in Thailand that will compete in the U18 Thailand Championships.
This is such a wonderful opportunity for all of us and we are super excited for it. It is crazy to think about how far we have come since first starting Volleyball at Eltham High School in Year 7.
