STEM/Japanese

This week in Japanese, the Prep students enjoyed listening to the traditional Japanese folktale Omusubi Kororin. The story is about a kind old man whose rice ball (onigiri) rolls down a hole and takes him on an unexpected adventure.

After discussing the story and learning about onigiri, a popular Japanese rice ball snack, students designed and decorated their own paper onigiri.

GALS

On Tuesday, our South Geelong GALS attended Deakin University for their final GALS workshop. The day focused on learning strategies for public speaking and listening to different groups share their innovative solutions to problems they had identified.

In the afternoon, students explored Deakin’s technology departments, where they had the opportunity to fly a helicopter simulator and engage with a range of other exciting technologies.
