Silverton Stories

Rhythms of Reconciliation Incursion!

On Monday 15th June, Silverton Primary School was lucky enough to host a super fun incursion called the Rhythms of Reconciliation. The students had an amazing time learning all about the meaning of reconciliation through engaging stories and awesome music!

The students were treated to a fantastic performance by two special guests, Michael and Mickey. The music brought everyone together with a wonderful mix of sounds, featuring both a modern electric guitar and the deep, rumbling sounds of a traditional didgeridoo.

There were plenty of giggles mixed in with the learning, especially when the presenters brought out some hilarious props to help tell their stories! Rhythms of Reconciliation perfectly summed up the beautiful vibe of the morning! It was a fantastic opportunity for Silverton Primary students to learn about working together, the importance of harmony, and the true rhythms of reconciliation.

Commonwealth Games Letters

On Wednesday the 17th of June Learning Centre One and Three came together for a very special project. Silverton Primary School was selected to write letters of encouragement and draw pictures to send to our Australian athletes competing in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland from July 23rd to August 2nd.

The students worked wonderfully with a partner or in a group of three to share their ideas and creativity to complete wonderful letters. They wrote to 90 different athletes competing in swimming, para swimming, judo, boxing, gymnastics, cycling and para cycling.

Their letters were sent off on Monday the 22nd June to make sure they make it all the way to Scotland in time for our athletes to see them when they arrive! A huge congratulations to all of the students for representing school children across the country and participating in this amazing experience!

Also a massive thank you to all of the teachers involved for being so flexible in allowing us to complete this task in on such short notice!!
