Message from our Principal

Mr Mark Pollard

Dear Silverton families,

Congratulations to the students who competed at Division Cross Country earlier this Term. We had three students who then progressed through to Regional level. Nikolas, Levi and Yuvleen. Regionals were held last week and all three students did a brilliant job!

Congratulations to the students who competed in the Fuse Cup Just Dance competition. Reyansh in 56T was the overall winner on the day and has now progressed through to the State Championships being held on the Gold Coast later in the year. Amazing! Thanks also to Mr Tang.

A big thank you to the LC3 staff who planned a brilliant Science themed House Day on 12th June. Well done to all of our students for their participation in the day and for rescuing Mrs Wheeler and I at the end of the day with their code cracking skills! Thank goodness!

Well done to all students who performed at the Performing Arts Showcase last week. A big thanks to Miss Penelope, Mr Palamara and Alex.

On Monday 15th June we had a whole school Reconciliation Incursion including a performance and story telling. Thank you to Mrs Connor for organizing the event and well done to all students who attended the session.

Our Year 1/2 students had their excursion to the Melbourne Zoo yesterday. Thank you to all of the staff who went along but also to our staff who remained at school and their flexibility on the day. Well done to to our year 1/2s for the way they conducted themselves at the Zoo.

Yesterday, some of our student leaders also took part in a day in they city, visiting Parliament. The students did a fantastic job representing Silverton. A big thanks to Mrs Howard and Miss Studley for taking our student leaders along to this exciting day.

This Sunday 28th June we are running a fundraiser BBQ at Bunnings in Springvale to raise funds for our Senior Band Tour. If you are able to pop down to Bunnings on Sunday and buy a sausage to help the cause, that would be much appreciated! We hope to see some Silverton people there.

This year we are raising funds for the following projects:

  • STEM equipment
  • Renovations in the Media Centre
  • A green house for the veggie garden
  • Two new BBQ’s for our fundraising events

Our 2026 Fundraising goal is $12,000. So far this year we have raised $5,800.

From the beginning of Term Three we will have some changes to the way our canteen operates. We will be offering a lunch service only on Wed, Thurs, Fri. No more over the counter sales available during recess or lunchtime.

Over the upcoming school holidays, we are having new carpet installed in LC1, LC2 and LC4. Looking forward to seeing how it all looks when we return!

Just a reminder that school finishes at 2:30pm this Friday 26th June. I hope everyone enjoys the school holiday period and we look forward to seeing everyone back on Monday 13th July.

Thank you for your ongoing support,

Thank you,

Mark Pollard – Principal
