Surf's up!
Well done to our surfing stars who represented the College at the 2025 Tasmanian Schools Surfing Championships recently. Despite the difficult conditions, Duke and Charlie (Year 10) won the U19 Boys Shield, the first time the College has won this event since 2010.
Special mention to Hudson (Year 7) and Joe (Year 8 ) who placed second in the U16 Boys Shield, Charlotte and Willow (Year 9) placed third in the High School Shield, Eva placed first in the inaugural B division, whereas Asher (Year 7) placed third.

- Boys Soccer: The South controlled the match and converted their chances well, coming away with a solid 4–1 win.
Regular Term 3 SATIS Sports
Our regular Term 3 SATIS sports have also been fantastic. As mentioned, both our 9/10 Boys AFL teams took out their competitions.
Other standout teams include:
- Year 9 Girls Basketball – In the Grand Final next Wednesday, aiming to go 3 for 3 across their years at MacKillop!
- Year 10 Division 1 Boys Soccer – Undefeated so far, with one game left and a Grand Final locked in for September 24.
- Year 8 Girls Basketball – Heading into their Grand Final next week!

AFL Program – Year 9/10 Boys
Our Year 9/10 Boys AFL Program continues to go from strength to strength!
- Our Division 2 team went through undefeated and beat Friends in a tight, rainy Grand Final.
- Our Division 1 team also went undefeated through their SATIS roster and beat Hutchins in the SSATIS Grand Final — a title we’ve never won before! This qualified them for the Tassie Hawks Qualifier against Hobart City High. The Qualifier was a hard-fought contest, but we took the win by 3 points, earning our place in the Tassie Hawks Cup in Launceston on September 17 — a history-making moment for the College!
Touch Football Championships
Starting most recently with our Touch Football Championships, this competition includes schools (public and private) from across southern Tasmania, all competing for a place at the State Championships. Here at MacKillop, we held tryouts and weekly training sessions to ensure our teams were ready to go. Thank you to all the students who gave it a go!
A special shoutout goes to Mr Westell, Mrs Gardner, Ms Pearce, Mr Grace, and MrFeldmann for coaching these teams and generously donating their time outside school hours for training and tryouts.
