HOUSE ATHLETICS CARNIVAL

Our House Athletics Carnival was held on Tuesday, 23 July and we were very fortunate to have a sunny day. It was pleasing to see the large number of students participating in track & field events, novelty events and house chants throughout the day. With so many events taking place simultaneously, combined with student supervision and food preparation and provision, I'd like to thank all staff and students who assisted. At the conclusion of all events, Grevillea were this year's House winners.

1. Grevillea 1055                2. Acacia 986

3.  Banksia 714                   4. Waratah 592

Here is a breakdown of results and placings for individual events. Students who won each event have qualified for the upcoming Monash Division Athletics Carnival on Thursday, 5 September.

We achieved fantastic results across the day, which included 35 first place finishes, 23  second place finishes and 14  third place finishes. Congratulations to the following students, who have qualified for the Eastern Metropolitan Region Athletics Carnival on Wednesday, 9 October  - Ryder Rutledge, Eli Ongarezos, Lucia Shaw, Andrew Macrae, River La, Sophie Volpert, Alexander Pantelidis, Keitaro Okabe, Nathan Haggai, Andreas Boukouras, Serana Barratt, Will Amiatu, Theo Egonidis, Jaewon Leon, Patrick Small, Nash Peters, Ryan Mete, Hugo Pruscino, Kristina, Andreev, Stefan Krozian. Here is a list of all place getters and events from yesterday's carnival.

THREE-DAY VOLLEYBALL SCHOOLS CUP

We entered one team into the three-day Volleyball Schools Cup, opting to compete in the higher Division 1 competition for this event. Despite being competitive in our preliminary matches, we were drawn in a three -team pool against the two teams who ended up playing off in the final and didn’t qualify for the finals matches. The team played an additional three matches, and played at a high level in patches, but struggled for consistency.

At the conclusion of the event, Eli Franzke was recognised as the MVP in the entire Division 1 competition. This will be the last time Eli represents the school in Volleyball, and it is worth acknowledging the significant contribution he has made as both a player and in coaching his peers. We wish him all the best as he continues to train hard and excel in this sport.

YEAR 10 BOYS REGIONAL NETBALL COMPETITION

On Monday, 29 July our Year 10 team participated in the Eastern Metropolitan Regional Netball competition. After being dominate in the Monash Division competition, we unfortunately suffered injuries to two of our best players in the week before the competition, preventing us from ‘putting our best foot forward’. Whilst the boys still competed hard, they came away without a win from their three games. They will now look forward to the Gala Day in a couple of weeks and hope to have their full team available.

INTERSCHOOL SPORT COMPETITIONS

This term, we had approximately 200 Year 7 – 10 students represent the school in basketball, hockey and table tennis. Congratulations to our Year 7 Boys Table Tennis team, Year 7 Mixed Hockey team and Intermediate Boys Hockey team on winning their competitions and progressing to the Regional event. All of the other Year 7 and 8 Table Tennis teams finished second, along with our Year 8 Mixed Hockey team and Year 7 Boys Basketball team.  Thank you to the teachers and students who assisted with coaching throughout the term.

3-ON-3 BASKETBALL COMPETITION

Across four Friday’s during Term 3, we had a 3-on-3 basketball competition, with seven teams entered into the Year 7 and 8 competition, and six teams entered into the Year 9 – 12 competition.

It was an exciting culmination to the competition, with some high quality and entertaining finals. Congratulations to Satoshi & Friends (Ethan Pham, Luka Kulas, Nathan Haggai) and Ballerz (George Stournaras, Nicholas Tsagaris, Kosta Baxevanos) who are this year's winners. Thank you also to the other teams / students who participated across the competition. Year 7 & 8 Final Ballerz defeated Dime Time
