Year Level Leaders Report
End Of Term 3:
Year 7 and 8 Leader Report
YEAR 7
At the conclusion of Term 3 we celebrate the successes of our Year 7 students.
In Academics, many of our Year 7 students have demonstrated high expectations by completing assessments such as the Australian Mathematics Competition, University of NSW ICAS competitions, The Australian Geography Competition and the Australian History Competition. We congratulate these students for challenging themselves beyond the classroom.
Year 7s have also been impressive in the sporting arena. After winning his age group medal at the Athletics Carnival, Ryder Rutledge qualified for the Regional Athletics Carnival along with Eli Ongarezos and Ruby Nguyen. Our Year 7 Boys Table Tennis Team and our Mixed Hockey Team have both won their interschool sport competitions and are now progressing to the regional competition in Term 4. Best of luck to all of our Year 7 sporting stars!
It was also fantastic to see some of our Year 7 music students up on stage for our Spring Concert last week. Jessie Pavlovic and Chisa Kawasaki both performing impressive solos to a full theatre. Congratulations!
During our assembly we also awarded more HRRRT point certificates to students who have been consistently demonstrating the school values. Congratulations to Chloe De Angelis, Joshua Schneider-Shannon, Liyah Soju and Rubymae Moroni for reaching their Silver Award for 25 HRRRT points!
A quick reminder that we are back into Summer uniform as of Term 4!
I hope all Year 7 families have a fun, safe and relaxing break and I look forward to seeing everyone back for a productive Term 4!
YEAR 8
The year 8s have had a successful Term 3.
They have been involved in a range of activities including school production, Inter-school sports, history, geography and maths competitions.
It was pleasing to see the amount of certificates handed out to the year 8s for HRRRT points and these certificates.
A special shout out to Arrsh Patel who has managed over 100 HRRRT points so far this year, well done Arrsh!
Subject selections have been completed for next year and once finalised will be distributed to the students next term. We also have exams happening next term before they complete year 8.
Well done to all year 8s on their efforts this term. I wish everyone a safe and restful holiday and come back to school refreshed for their final term of year 8.

Year 9 and 10 Leader Report
This term, our Year 9 and 10 cohorts has demonstrated strong alignment with our school values of High Expectations, Respect, Responsibility, Resilience, and Teamwork. These values were evident in their engagement at school each day, and in particular, the student-Led conferences and Intermediate Interschool Sports Day.
On Thursday, 22 August , many Year 9 and 10 students partook in the Intermediate Sports Day across a range of sports including basketball, table tennis and hockey. Students showcased teamwork and resilience, whether experiencing victory or learning from setbacks, they upheld the school’s high expectations, working together and showing fantastic sportsmanship.
At the time of writing, I am looking forward to seeing our students engage with the 2024 South Oakleigh College Spring Concert from 6:30pm, Tuesday 10 September, and SOC's Got Talent on the final day of term.’’
Special shout-out also to Jack Wright for winning the Norman A Smith Scholarship on behalf of the Waverley RSL. This is an incredible achievement, recognising Jack for being an incredibly capable young citizen residing in the City of Monash. Well Done Jack!
I want to wish you all a relaxing holiday period.

Year 11 and 12 Leader Report
YEAR 11
Dear Parents and Carers
As we approach the end of Term 3, we are excited to remind you about two important updates for our Year 11 students.
Term 4 Uniform Policy
As we prepare for Term 4, we kindly remind all students and families to review the South Oakleigh College Uniform Policy to ensure students are prepared for Day 1. Please note that Black Nike Air Force shoes are not part of the uniform, and students will need to wear the appropriate black leather lace up school shoes. We strongly advise purchasing any necessary items, including shoes, before the start of Term 4. Should you require extra assistance, please reach out to a member of the Senior School Team for support.
Finally, as the holidays approach, we encourage all students to take time to relax, recharge, and look after their wellbeing. This is a great opportunity to reset and prepare for a productive and successful Term 4.
YEAR 12
As our Year 12 students approach the final stages of their schooling, we have a few important updates to share.
Year 12 Valedictory Dinner
We are pleased to announce that the Year 12 Valedictory Dinner will be held on Monday 14th October at the beautiful Merrimu venue. This will be a special evening to celebrate our students’ hard work and achievements throughout their years at South Oakleigh College. We look forward to a memorable graduation evening with students, families, and staff. Tickets can still be purchased via the following link - https://www.trybooking.com/CUWAA
VCE Trial Exams and Revision Sessions
During Week 2 of the holidays, some VCE Unit 3/4 subjects will be running practice exams or revision sessions onsite. Your child has been provided with the specific session times. Additionally, other teachers may conduct sessions online or during the first week of Term 4. We encourage you to support your child in attending these valuable sessions and making use of the holiday period to revise coursework. If your child requires further assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to their teachers.
Final Day of Classes for Year 12
The last day of school for Year 12 students will be held on Friday, 18 October. This is a significant milestone in their academic journey, and further details regarding the special activities planned for the day will be shared with students and families soon.
