ST NICHOLAS CROSS COUNTRY
After super hot weather in Tamworth, we woke up last Friday to a morning of light rain and cold, blustery conditions. What a perfect day to run a Cross Country without overheating!
We couldn't have asked for a better day, but it’s really the effort of the students that made the day shine. Cross Country isn’t just about speed; it’s about the effort it takes to keep going when your legs want to stop, the atmosphere and of course the sportsmanship.
We saw runners cheering for their teammates, people sticking around to high-five the final finishers, and students helping rivals after a fall to catch their breath. That is what true athletes do!
While everyone should be proud, there are a few individuals who pushed the pace to the next level. A massive congratulations to the following students who will represent St Nicholas and compete in Barraba at the ACS Cross Country Carnival on 22 May 2026.

DIOCESAN TOUCH TRIALS
Good luck to the following students who will be trialling at the ACS Touch Football Trials in Inverell on 24 April 2027 (This is the 1st week back in Term 2): Max C, Louis B, Cooper C, Hudson Y, Quade H, Arthur B, Quaid M, Olly S for the boys and for the girls: Charlotte B, Jessie G, Lucy S, Uchenna N and Annie D. Please be aware there has been a change in venue after water restrictions have been enforced in Glen Innes. the new location is at the Inverell Sporting Complex.
DIOCESAN TRIALS- GIRLS RUGBY LEAGUE & BOYS NETBALL
Expressions of interest are open for Girls Rugby League and Boys Netball. The forms are to be completed by the parents/guardians of the child wishing to nominate. Please visit the Armidale Diocesan Primary Sports page for more information:
https://sites.google.com/arm.catholic.edu.au/sportasc/home-page/primary-sport
Expression of interest ( Girls Rugby League, Golf, Rugby 7's Softball, AFL & Diving)
Historically, these sports have had limited nominations, so we do not host trials for them. We gather all expressions of interest, and then, when the EOIs are completed, we direct information to parents and schools.
It is our diocesan policy that children selected to represent the Armidale Diocese must be available to represent Polding at the relevant NSWPSSA Championship if selected.
WINTER NETBALL IS ALMOST HERE!
The winter netball season is almost here!
Your coaches should have been in touch with your team members to organise a group chat. All games begin on Saturday May 2nd.
Please note that there will be, for the first time ever in Tamworth, a march past of clubs. I think that St Nicholas Netball Club can do a joyful DANCE PAST!
I’ll coordinate with the coaches. This will occur on 2 May 2026 at 11:30am.
Mrs Elliott will have visors at the courts on that day, so bring $10 to buy one!
Or, send in $10 and one will be sent home with your child.
Have the best break!
Current netball tipping champion,
Emma Elliott
