Term 1 Week 8
Reflections on Term 1
As we conclude Term 1 and prepare for the sacred Easter Triduum, I wish to extend my deepest gratitude to the entire St Nicholas School community. This term has brought its share of challenges, yet it has been defined by the opportunities and successes that arise when a dedicated staff works diligently to create safe, engaged learning spaces.
Educating your children is a profound honor. We are humbled by the responsibility you place in us and thank you for trusting St Nicholas School to work in partnership with you. Together, we are developing literate, numerate students equipped for a hope-filled future.
Term 1 Highlights
Our calendar has been busy, reflecting our commitment to faith, sport, and academic growth:
- Faith & Liturgy: Opening School Mass, Shrove Tuesday, Ash Wednesday, School Stations of the Cross and our Staff leading the Parish Stations of the Cross.
- Community Engagement: PT&F and School Advisory Council AGMs, and the wonderful Welcome BBQ.
- Student Progress: Annual Swimming Carnival, Year 3 & 5 NAPLAN, and our vital "Ready Set Grow" Personal Plan meetings.
Special Events: St Patrick’s Green Day, Infants Disco and the Year 6 Confirmation Candidates attending the Chrism Mass in Armidale.
Despite a busy schedule, our staff has remained unwavering in their focus on our "core business": improving faith, learning, and wellbeing outcomes. This success is rooted in our belief that every child can learn when provided with the right tools and conditions.
Furthermore, we have prioritized the connection between home and school. Through our Ready Set Grow meetings, we hope you felt empowered to share insights into your child’s needs, ensuring a collaborative path toward a successful year.
While no school is perfect, I am incredibly proud to witness our mission in action every day. I am fortunate to be surrounded by such a professional, high-functioning team and a supportive parent body.
Chrism Mass at The Cathedral in Armidale
On Tuesday our Year 6 students who are making the sacrament of Confirmation attended the Chrism Mass at our diocesan Cathedral in Armidale. This Mass was significant as the Chrism oil that will be used to confirm our students later in the year was blessed by the Bishop.
Myself, Mrs. Scott and the Year 6 teachers accompanied our students to the Mass. They represented our school with reverence and respect and it was a pleasure to attend this Mass with them to represent St Nicholas School.
Wishing you all a holy and restful Easter break and we look forward to welcoming everyone back in Term 2.
