Year 5 Camp 2026

After seven weeks of settling into the College and forming friendships, the much anticipated event of Year 5 camp was finally here. And it did not disappoint!!

The Great Aussie Bush Camp at Kincumber was a swarm of activity, and not just the millions of mosquitoes that greeted us and chose to hang around. After a hearty lunch it was straight into the action with archery, tree climbing, high ropes, giant swing, raft building, orienteering, damper making and the famous mud-run.

Mixed activity groups meant there were new boys to meet and relationships to form. Teamwork and communication were the order of the day and smiles were wide. The boys took on the challenge and came through in shining colours (though a little dirty).

For me camp was a wonderful time. The food surprised me with the scrumptious meals that they served me. The burgers had the crunchy lettuce, the sprinkled cheese, the soft meat patty and the barbecue sauce  spurted on top and the spaghetti bolognaise with the swiggly spaghetti noodles, the big round sausage and the red sauce all around the bowl. The activities were really enjoyable. The giant swing that went up 30 metres, the treetops with the wobbly obstacles and the mud run where you had to crawl through squishy mud. The cabins were very good. Sleeping with your friends in the night is very fun. Talking with your friends for a little bit and going to sleep early to wake up at 6:00.  For me, overall camp was an amazing experience.

Dante L:

I liked the mud run because it was like doing things like being in the army

Jonathan G:

I enjoyed the archery because I had to think about how to the arrow on target and it was challenging. I didn’t get bullseye but I was close.

Alessio L:

I liked the giant swing because it was scary but fun. I went up about 8 metres and it was really good.

Alexander P:

Bushcraft was good because we made a shelter out of sticks and logs. We also made damper and it tased really nice with the maple syrup.
