Acting Principal's Message

Welcome Back to Term 3!

Term 3 is well underway, and we have a wide range of exciting learning opportunities for our students and school community to look forward to.

Merge Program

This term, we have introduced a new program called Merge for a selected group of Grade 6 boys.  Facilitated through Homebase, the program is designed to promote positive masculinity, resilience, and healthy relationships, while also assisting the boys to transition more confidently from Primary school to Secondary school.  Sessions are held every Wednesday morning for one hour and are supported by Mr Hutchins, alongside a Homebase facilitator, who delivers the program.  If you would like more information on the Merge Program please see the link provided.

The Bike Collective

We have also launched the The Bike Collective Program for selected Grade 5 and 6 students. Students submitted an expression of interest outlining why they would benefit from participating, with the successful applicants selected by the Leadership Team.

The program runs every Tuesday throughout the term and combines practical bicycle maintenance with a wellbeing and social skills component. Students complete a workbook as they progress through the program, and those who successfully meet the program requirements will receive a brand new bicycle at its conclusion. 

Grade 5/6 Netball and Football

Our Grade 5 and 6 students are also enjoying the opportunity to participate in Friday afternoon Netball and Football competitions. These experiences encourage teamwork, sportsmanship, and school spirit, and are made possible through the support and commitment of our Grade 5/6 teaching team.

Excursions, Incursions and Special Events

Throughout the term, students across the school have been engaging in a variety of enriching learning experiences beyond the classroom. These include attending musical productions, Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra performances, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural experiences, Book Week activities and gymnastics sessions.  We also have our JPII Athletics Carnival towards the end of term.  This is always a wonderful community event where families come together to cheer on and support the students' achievements.

Next week, a number of students will represent our school at the Catholic Education Week Mass at St Mary’s Cathedral.  We also continue to support students on their faith journey as they prepare to receive the Sacrament of First Eucharist. These learning opportunities and experiences enrich our students' academic, cultural, physical, and spiritual development.
