Room 10 Assembly Presentation
In writing we have been learning about hero's journeys.
A hero's journey is a way of writing with 12 sections. In the ordinary world, the hero is at home. Call to adventure, the character gets called on a quest. They often refuse for many reasons, but a mentor will guide them on their journey. Crossing the threshold is when they go into their new world. They will make friends, face challenges and enemies. As they approach the innermost cave, they think their journey is over but there will be an ordeal, something that goes wrong and makes the journey longer. They get a reward for overcoming the ordeal and begin the road back to return home. They have learnt a valuable lesson because of their journey.
There are 8 character archetypes: Hero, Mentor, Threshold Guardian, Herald, Shapeshifter, Shadow, Ally and the Trickster.
Most stories are structured like this. For example Harry Potter or Finding Nemo. Bluey is also a good one(Curry Quest). Also myths and legends from thousands of years ago.
