Welcome to Term 3

It is wonderful to welcome our students, staff and families back to the College for Term 3 and the beginning of Semester 2. I hope everyone enjoyed a safe and refreshing break and has returned ready for another rewarding semester of learning, growth and connection.

Year 11 Central Australia Camp

During the holidays, our Year 11 students enjoyed an unforgettable Central Australia Camp. Travelling through the heart of Australia, students experienced the remarkable landscapes, culture and history of this unique part of our country. I am sure the memories and friendships formed during this journey will remain with them for many years.

An experience of this scale would not be possible without the generous commitment of our staff. I sincerely thank Ms Singh, Mr Schmid, Ms Clarke, Mr Chambers, Mr Mourelatos and Ms Puls for accompanying and supporting our students throughout the trip.

Subject Selections and Course Counselling

This week also marked the beginning of our subject-selection and course-counselling process for students in Years 9 and 10. Choosing VCE subjects is an important step as students begin to shape their senior studies and consider their future pathways. I encourage students and families to take full advantage of the guidance available, to ask questions and to carefully consider each student’s interests, strengths and aspirations.

Drama Club Production

Our Drama Club production of Alice in Wonderland opened on Thursday, with performances continuing on Friday and Saturday. It is wonderful to see the production grow each year, with increasing numbers of students contributing both on stage and behind the scenes. From the performers and backstage team to the sound and lighting crew, every student plays an important role in bringing the production to life.

Congratulations to everyone involved for their creativity, dedication and teamwork.

Mentor Program

In the coming weeks, we will also launch an exciting new mentor program. Past students who achieved highly in specific subjects will be invited back to provide in-class support alongside our Year 12 teachers. This initiative will give our current students access to valuable insights from recent graduates who understand the demands of their subjects. It will also help our alumni remain connected with the College and strengthen the thriving learning community we continue to build.

Worlds Greatest Shave

Finally, today four of our senior students—Caleb W, Freya H, Ishaan K and Dineth D —bravely took part in the World’s Greatest Shave, shaving their hair to raise money for an important cause. Their efforts were supported by a bake sale held on Wednesday, which raised additional funds. I congratulate these students and everyone who baked, volunteered, donated or offered encouragement. Their compassion and community spirit are qualities of which we can all be proud.

Term 3 has begun with energy, opportunity and a strong sense of community. I look forward to seeing all that our students and staff will accomplish throughout Semester 2.
