Book Fair is coming!
May 18th - May 22nd
Start saving up your coins! At the Lamont Book Fair 2026 in May, you can buy some amazing books to read at home, and support Kalinda PS at the same time! Every purchase earns 30% commission for our school, so we can buy even more great books and resources for the library and the whole school to enjoy.
Book League: Game On!
This term, our library is in full swing with our “Book League: Game On!” theme, inspired by this year’s National Simultaneous Storytime feature, Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller. Just like Luna Roo, our students will be exploring what it means to be active and determined, both on the field and in the pages of a book.
Reading and sport might seem like very different activities, but they actually share a lot in common. Both help children build focus and stamina, whether it’s sticking with a challenging chapter or practising a new ball skill. Both encourage goal-setting and perseverance, showing students that improvement comes with time and effort. Importantly, both also create opportunities for connection. Sharing a story or playing on a team helps children develop empathy, communication, and confidence.
Throughout the term, students will be “picking teams” by deciding what genre they’d like to read next, setting goals and challenging themselves with their reading, and celebrating their progress by sharing their reading wins and favourite stories. We’re excited to see our students grow as readers and teammates, discovering that success comes in many forms, both on the page and on the playground.
