Principal's Report

As we approach the end of an enriching semester at Carlton Gardens Primary, it’s amazing to reflect on the incredible growth and achievements of our students. This semester has been filled with moments of learning, creativity, and community spirit that truly embody the essence of CGPS.
Sadly, we farewell many students who head home overseas at the end of this term – we have been so grateful to those who have joined our community from faraway places, and we wish you all the best for your return home. We love hearing from past CGPS students who have moved schools, especially when they are overseas – we will miss you, so please stay connected.
Throughout this term, our students have not only excelled academically but have also demonstrated exceptional resilience and dedication to their learning. From mastering new concepts in mathematics to exploring the wonders of literature and the science, everyone has made tremendous progress.
As we look forward to the upcoming break, I encourage our students to embrace this time for rest and rejuvenation. It’s also an opportunity for families to reflect on the achievements of the past semester and set new goals for the future. Whether it’s exploring new hobbies, spending quality time with loved ones, or simply relaxing, I hope this holiday period brings joy and fulfilment to each of you.
The first day back next term, the 21st of July, will be a student free Curriculum Day. On this day, our staff will be engaging in a full day of learning. Our focus will be on key concepts around Cognitive Load Theory and the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model, as well as unpacking some important learning data to consider implications for the teaching and learning in semester two!
Finally, I would like to extend my gratitude to our dedicated teaching staff, support teams, and parent community for their unwavering commitment and partnership throughout the semester. Your support plays a crucial role in creating a nurturing environment where every child can thrive.
Wishing you all a safe and enjoyable winter break. We look forward to welcoming our students back refreshed and ready for another successful semester ahead.
