A 'Pilgrims of Hope' Prayer

Loving God,

You created all people to be equal.

Yet, throughout the world many are struggling

to find even the most basic things they need:

food, water, safety and education.

In this Year of Jubilee,

when we are called to be pilgrims of hope,

we pray for greater justice.

May we work to ensure that earth is truly a common home for everyone,

shared by all and enjoyed in security.

May we be instruments of your peace

Amen

St Roch's Social Justice: Mini Vinnies 'Winter Appeal'

Thank you to our Year 5 and 6 ‘Mini Vinnies’ who are busy promoting our Winter Appeal!

‘The Winter Appeal is about helping people in need. We are going to help with their clothing so that they won’t be cold over Winter. There is a donation basket in each classroom for families to contribute to.  We are asking for people to bring warm clothes like trackpants, jackets, puffers, scarves, gloves and beanies etc. They need to be clean and in good condition. It’s due on Friday 27th June. Mini Vinnies appreciate all of your donations. They will be used immediately by people in need!’

St Roch's Sacramental Program: First Communion

RETREAT DAY: Last Wednesday our Year 4 students teachers joined Father Gallacher over in the Narthex for our First Communion Retreat Day. This special day involved learning about the purpose of First Communion, exploring how prayer is an important part and also visiting areas of the Church that we normally don’t get to see. It was exciting to go into the Sacristy to see where Father Gallacher’s robes are stored, alongside many special books and also where the host is stored too.  As always, this was another fantastic opportunity to ask Father Gallacher all of our questions about First Communion and also about the Catholic faith. We are very grateful for his support!

FIRST COMMUNION:  On Sunday our students and their families came together to experience the final part of this faith journey - their First Eucharist. It was particularly noted how reverent and respectful the students were during this time.  As is a tradition at St Roch’s, each family who is part of the First Communion program created a ‘family piece’ decorated with elements of Frist Communion and their faith. A special thank you to Carmel Rozario for putting this together.  A huge thank you to the Sacramental team of Father Gallacher, Jess Mount, Angie Mastoras, Teresa Hogan and Nadine Bolton!
