District Soccer (Boys)

On the 15th of May, some boys in 5/6 at Holy Cross went to Dixon Field to try to make it through to the next round, Division. All the boys played very well and worked great as a team.

Group Stage 

In our first game, the boys won 2-1 against Macedon Primary. They put up a good fight. In the second game, we won again. Against Mt Macedon 3-1, then the boys had a break and had some food.

Then we versed Riddles Creek and won 10-0. It was a wonderful performance by the boys. In the next game, we played against New Gisborne, and we won 2-0. We stopped them from making it to the finals and that meant we made it to the final.

Final

In the finals the boys had to face Braemer. It was probably one of the closest games of the whole day. We scored first and then the whole team just focused on defence. Then it was halftime and everyone was nervous. We went back on the field and Braemer went as hard as they could, but our defence was too good. With one minute left, Finnan ran the whole field and scored and then the refs blew the whistle; we won the game.

Highlights 

One of the team's highlights was, after the grand final, we went in a big circle and chanted and sang a song. All the boys had a great time. 

Thank you to Mr Wenczel, the teacher helpers, the Braemar refs and all the parents who helped out and supported us from the sidelines. I hope we have a good time at the Division.

District Soccer (Girls)

On Friday, the 15th of May, some of the girls in 5/6 went to Dixon Field for soccer. In total, we had 4 games. We lost our first match to Mt Macedon. Our second game was against New Gisborne, sadly, we lost. In our third game against St. Brigid's, we lost again. But in our last game, we did not let them score, and we drew with Willowbank.

Our highlight of the day was seeing everyone smile and the air filled with laughter, even when we lost our games. The best part of the day was getting there and having fun.

We would also like to say thank you to the parents and staff who came with us along the way and helped during the day. Also thank you to Paul Azzopardi and Mrs Gaunt for coaching us.

CROSS COUNTRY- DIVISION 

A huge congratulations to our Division Cross Country team who did so well at the recent event. Congratulations to Jameson H., James D., Jack P., Finnan H. Jack C who all finished in the top 10- with Jameson and Finnan actually winning their age groups overall.  An amazing effort! Super effort also by Aisha M who finished 11th and James W. 13th. We are so proud of you all! 

Good luck to those that now move onto Regionals as well.
