Learning Games Festival
On Saturday August 1, Preston City Hall will be filled with learning games, student-made games, teacher ideas, short talks and playable classroom activities.
The Learning Game Playground is a hands-on festival for teachers, students, families, game designers and curious people who like learning through play.

A message from Gippsland Sports Academy
The Gippstar Awards are designed to seek out and recognise sporting achievements of Gippslanders. The Awards are open to all athletes, coaches, administrators and officials - amateur or professional. If you would like to recognise the sporting achievements of a Gippslander, nominations can be made online at the Gippsland Sports Academy website.
We are coming to the end of the 25/26 Gippstar Awards year and we are currently accepting nominations for the May and June Gippstar Awards. Monthly nominations for May/June will close on Tuesday 7th July 2026, so get your nominations in!
Our 66th Annual Gippstar Awards night will be held in August and we would like to give everyone an opportunity to be a part of this prestigious event, where monthly winners (Junior & Open) will receive their trophies. We will also be acknowledging those nominated in the following annual award categories.
- Team of the Year
The team must be from a region of Gippsland or represent Gippsland with the minimum number of athletes in the team being two. The award is given on the performance of the team over the year in which the nomination is submitted and is open to all teams competing in a competition in age groups over the age of 10 years by the 30th June of the current Gippstar year (which runs July 1st to June 30).
- Club of the Year
The Club must be from a region of Gippsland and its principal activity is that of administering a recognised sport.
- Special Achiever Award
The nominee must have:
- Supporting evidence that they are a resident of Gippsland;
- Provided outstanding service to sport over a significant period of years;
- Been actively engaged as a committee member, coach, umpire, official or volunteer with their Gippsland based club and/or association for no less than ten years;
- Carried out their duties over and above the normal expectations of their position held in their association and/or club.
- Gippsland Champion Award
To receive this award the awardee must have:
- Supporting evidence that they have a strong family association with Gippsland;
- Commenced their sporting career with a Gippsland club and/or association in the sport that they are seeking to be recognised as a “Gippsland Champion”;
Been permanently residing outside of the Gippsland region at the time of their nomination.

Monthly Gippstar Awards:
• JUNIOR – under 16 years.
• OPEN – any age as long as they are competing in an open competition.
