Wellbeing Update

šæ Wellbeing Wonderings
As we approach the end of term, Iāve found myself reflecting on how quickly these past few weeks have flown by. My first term at Lowanna has been an absolute joy and thatās thanks to the incredible community Iāve had the privilege to join. Our students, families and carers embody the values of Lowanna every day and Iām grateful for the warmth and connection youāve shown.
Ā
Term 3 is already shaping up to be an exciting one, with new programs and group activities planned across all year levels. Keep an eye on Compass for updates ā thereās plenty to look forward to.
Ā
As we head into the break, I hope everyone finds a moment to rest, reset and recharge before we dive into a busy and vibrant Term 3. Iām looking forward to seeing you all again soon.
Warmly, Sally and Roxy

š¾ PAWSOME PAWSĀ š¾
Many of you will have already met, patted, walked or thrown a ball for our two furry superstars, Sox and Roxy! These much-loved companions are becoming a familiar daily duo around Lowanna College, enjoying the social interactions and attention from students and staff alike.
Ā
Sox and Roxy both play an important role within our college community, providing emotional support, helping with de-escalation and offering opportunities for connection and wellbeing. Spending time with dogs has been shown to boost serotonin, oxytocin and endorphinsāthe feel-good chemicals that support positive mental health and wellbeing.
Keep an eye out for them around the yard, Roxy loves going for walks and joining in a game of soccer during recess and lunch. Sox loves the pats and belly rubs - don't forget to stop by and say hello!
Feed Your Instinct
Are you concerned your child may be developing an unhealthy relationship with food, weight or their body? Parents often know when something is not quite right with their child.
Feed Your Instinct (FYI) is an interactive tool designed to support parents of children and young people experiencing different types of eating and/or body image problems. Visit the below link for more information.Ā

Pride Group
Our Standout Group is held on Mondays at lunch time, alternating weeks for junior (7-8) and senior (9-12) groups. LGBTQIA+ and allies are welcome. See Naomi, our School Nurse, in wellbeing for more information.

Seasons for Growth
Lowanna College facilitates several groups to support students. Students are invited to join groups through referral and invitation. One group running in Term 3 is Seasons for Growth.
Seasons for GrowthĀ is an evidence-based
change, loss and grief education program that
uses the imagery of the seasons to illustrate the
experience of change, loss and grief. Children and young people can experience grief following significant changes and losses:
⢠Someone they love dies.
⢠Separation and divorce.
⢠Friendship changes.
⢠Illness.
⢠Relocation.
⢠Natural disasters.
Ā
Seasons for Growth aims to strengthen the social and emotional wellbeing of children and young people by:
⢠Exploring the impact of change and loss
on every-day life.
⢠Learning new ways to respond to
these changes.
Live4Life
'Emotions unite us but they donāt define us.'
As part of the Live4Life Crew Induction Day, two of our students (Tehya and Shaun), along with students from other schools designed a theme poster for this year. After voting took place the theme poster was selected. Congratulations to the winning team and well done to all students for their effort.
