News from our Principal

Dear Parents and Carers

Student Leadership

At Our Lady of Fatima all students are provided with the chance to explore their potential for personal growth and leadership through working with others, developing teamwork and showing a commitment to their school and parish community.

Our School Captain process for our Year 5 students has been underway and the students have engaged in the process with confidence, maturity and pride. They are aware of the privilege it will be to be elected as a School Captain for Our Lady of Fatima for 2026 and they all aspire to lead and represent their school.

The School Captains will be announced and badged at our End of Year Mass in Week 10 and our Sports Captains will receive their badges in 2026 at the Opening School Mass.

Staffing News

It is with much pleasure that I can announce and congratulate Mrs Erin Wing on her substantive full time appointment to the Religious Education Coordinator role at OLF from 2026. Mrs Wing is currently on staff as one of our Diverse Learning Teachers in Year 2. She comes with much experience in many areas, passion and an energy that I know will continue to enrich our community and bring our Catholic story to life. Father Julian strongly supports this appointment and we are all looking forward to working with Mrs Wing next year.

At the end of this year Ms Sophie Heighes will be finishing up and not returning to OLF in 2026. We thank Ms Heighes for her commitment, dedication and her nurturing ways with Year 2G this year. Ms Heighes will be taking some time off to travel and explore this wonderful country of ours. We wish her all the best on her travels and look forward to hearing all about her adventures when she returns!

We welcome Ms Matilda Montague, Ms Francesca Formica, Mr Campbell Slattery and Ms Venetia Natoli-Wright  to our staff next year in different capacities and roles. They have been a constant presence most of the year taking on casual work, filling in leave blocks and supporting the students at OLF across the school. I am confident they will contribute positively to our community and I know they are all very excited to join our community in a more substantive capacity.

Advent

The season of Advent prepares us for the great joy of Christmas as we prepare for the birth of Jesus. The word itself comes from the Latin "adventus," meaning "coming" and the season focuses on spiritual reflection, prayer, hope and love. We also remember those in our wider community who are struggling financially. Thank you to all the families who have already donated generously to our St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal so far. Your generosity will help many people in our community who are in need.

We look forward to seeing many of you at our Christmas Concert on Friday morning on the playground.
