Senior School

你 好 (ni hao)

This week in 5/6, students have continued exploring the themes throughout our text study, Sister Heart. We have had some thoughtful class discussions analysing the character development of the main character, Annie, a First Nations girl, and examining the challenges and experiences she faces throughout the novel.

In Maths, students have been learning about number properties and investigating what makes a number prime or composite. They have been identifying factors and applying this understanding to a range of problem-solving activities. As an enrichment activity, students have also been exploring index laws to support their understanding of equations involving numbers with indices.

In Guided Inquiry, we are continuing our exploration of The Australian Story. Students have been discussing counterfactual statements, considering what Australia might be like today if it had never become a federation. They explored the possible changes and effects this may have had on laws, travel, defence, and national identity. Students also began creating a fact file about significant people who played an important role in supporting the Federation of Australia in 1901.

We hope you have had a lovely week.

Warm regards,

The Senior Team

Nick, Julia, Amanda, Gabby, Jonny, Miss Liu, Roz, Claire, Ciara, Jess and Sam
