Parking & Student Safety

A reminder to all families who park in and around Whittlesea Tyre & Battery at school drop-off and pick-up times to take extra care and remain mindful of student safety. We understand that this area can become very busy and that finding a parking space can be challenging, particularly during peak times.

We have received reports of vehicles driving along the footpath to enter or leave the car park behind the bus stop. We ask that families please do not drive on the footpath; instead, use the designated roadways and entry points. While we appreciate that parking around the school can be a challenge, the safety of our students and families must remain our priority. Please slow down, be patient and take care when moving around this busy area.

In addition, just a reminder that for any of our families entering or exiting the school via Plover Way, this is a 40 km/h zone at ALL times. This area also has increased 'foot' traffic at the start and end of the school day, so please adhere to the speed limit.

Emergency Management Planning

In line with the expectations of the Victorian Department of Education, we maintain our Emergency Management Planning to ensure we are prepared to respond effectively to a range of situations. This week, we participated in a lockdown drill to practise our response to a potential external threat. These drills are an important part of our Emergency Management Plan, helping staff and students understand procedures and respond calmly and safely. We regularly review our processes, provide staff training and work closely with emergency services to ensure our approach reflects best practice. In the event of a significant incident, families will be contacted through our usual communication channels (Compass).  Let's hope this is something that we do not need to do.

Getting 'SHOW' ready

We are busy preparing for the Whittlesea Show, and our students have been creating some wonderful artwork and writing that we are excited to share with the wider community. Every student at Whittlesea Primary School will have the opportunity to have a piece of their work submitted for display at the Show. There is no cost to families for students to participate.

We are proud to showcase the creativity, imagination and learning of our students and look forward to seeing their work on display. If you do not wish for your child’s artwork and/or writing to be displayed at the Whittlesea Show, please contact the school office to let us know.
