Student Dress Code (School Uniform)

Attached to the newsletter post, you would have seen a letter from our School Council President regarding the wearing of our school uniform. I would like to thank the school council for their support with this, as well as for their ongoing support across all matters, which primarily include general strategic governance: setting direction, approving the budget, endorsing policies, monitoring performance, and supporting my leadership of the school. (All our school policies are located on our school website at: https://www.whittleseaps.vic.edu.au/page/8/School-Documentation

Area Forum (Learn & Collaborate)

Yesterday, Ms Gittos and I attended the North Eastern Melbourne Area Forum at the Plenty Ranges Arts & Convention Centre.

This forum brings together Principals from across the surrounding LGAs to engage with key Department priorities and system updates. The morning featured a comprehensive statewide update from Regional Director Ms. Tip Kennedy, providing key insights into current priorities and developments across Government schools. This was followed by a forward-focused session exploring the evolving role of schools, leaders, and education systems, with discussion centred on preparing for the future of education through to 2036. This was very interesting and the impetus for many conversations at the tables about what the future of learning in schools could look like.

Participants then engaged in a professional learning session on the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model (VTLM) 2.0, with a particular focus on the intentional and effective use of digital devices to enhance teaching and learning. During this session, the presenter, Mr Nicholas Ridge, Manager, Teacher Professional Practice, also unpacked the world of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its use in schools. He presented on the use of AI in schools, not only regarding what this means for our students, but also the wider impacts on the teaching profession and society more generally. The forum continues to play an important role in ensuring alignment with the Department of Education's regional directions while supporting schools in implementing initiatives in their local contexts.
