Student Leadership

CALENDAR OF EVENTS - STUDENT LEADERSHIP INITIATIVES - TERM 3

We are delighted to announce the leadership initiatives for the upcoming term as decided by our student leaders. These initiatives have been crafted by representatives from various student bodies, including the Representatives of Student Wellbeing, the Sustainability Team, and the Student Representative Council.

Additionally, our School Captains and Vice Captains have identified unique leadership projects for Semester 2. Each project is designed to make a meaningful contribution to our school community and provide opportunities for lasting impact and improvement.

R U OKAY Day

Are You Okay Day is an annual observation in Australia, celebrated on the second Thursday of every September. This year, it falls on September 12. On this day, Australians check up on each other, especially those who are going through a tough time. Since we keep too busy all year round, it is great that days like Are You Okay Day are observed to make us and those around us seen, heard, and understood.

Great Book Swap Day - Indigenous Literacy Foundation

Illiteracy is a major issue facing remote Indigenous communities. Being unable to read and write is a significant barrier to education, employment, health and wellbeing.

The Foundation works to address this through providing books and literacy resources (some in first languages) to families, schools and service organisations in remote communities; and publishing stories by Indigenous people that are reflective of community life and culture.

Bring a gold coin donation and swap a book.

All donations will go to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.

RPS Student Magazine

I would like to create a student magazine that will be published at the end of the year and placed in the school's library and can be purchased as a memento. I will create exciting segments that all students can contribute to, as well as the student leaders.

Some segments will include:

  • Student Art Work Competition
  • Leadership Committee Recaps
  • Short Story/Poems
  • Word Searches/Activities
  • Favourite Inquiry Units
  • Teacher Biography/Interviews
  • Student Interviews
  • 2024 In Review

New Sensory Space

I have considered making a new sensory space for students to use, as I feel the current space is far too noisy and not ideal. I hope to design and decide on the purchase of new sensory tools and furniture.

Bring Art & Colour To RPS

I would like to work on a new mural for the school and I will find an artist who can support our vision. We will work on this for the remainder of the school year. I have to decide on an area.

Our student leaders are enthusiastic and committed to making a positive difference in our school community. We look forward to seeing the incredible achievements they will accomplish in the upcoming term.
