Emmanuel College
Embrace Reading Program
As part of the English curriculum, Year 7 and 8 students take part in the Embrace Reading program in the College libraries. Designed to boost literacy and foster a love of reading, Embrace offers competitions, prizes, and a wide reading journal. In the relaxed library setting, students browse new titles, share recommendations, and enjoy reading as a source of confidence, curiosity, and creativity. We hope that you enjoy this student snapshot:
Embrace reading is a fun way to connect, infer and learn about reading. Every fortnight, classes go to the library to learn about different reading strategies. We start the lesson by choosing a book based on what we are interested in and enjoy some quiet reading before coming back together to start on the ‘Embrace’ lesson to help us understand our book or other activities like poetry. In the end, embrace reading is a fun way to get people excited and involved in reading. Maya and Abigail, 8B NDC
Sport Highlights
We are very proud of everyone who achieves their best in individual events and team sports for Emmanuel College. Congratulations to our Senior Girls Soccer team, who played last week and won against CRC Sydenham 1-0 to earn a spot in the grand final at the ‘Home of the Matilda’s in Bundoora and to the Senior Girls Hockey team, runners up against MacKillop 2-1, in the SACCSS Senior Hockey Tournament.
St Paul’s Campus Annual Cross Country was held recently; we thank all students who participated and ran on the day, and to the staff and students who helped make the event run so smoothly. A big congratulations to everyone who competed and placed in their year level.
