Prep Pilgrimage 2025 – Celebrating the Year of Jubilee
This year, as part of the Church’s Year of Jubilee, our school community is journeying together on pilgrimages that help us grow in faith and deepen our connection with God’s creation. Each year level will have the opportunity to take part in a special pilgrimage day throughout the year, with activities designed to be meaningful, prayerful, and age-appropriate.
Last Friday, our Prep students enjoyed their very first pilgrimage, walking through the story of Creation through seven rotations. Each “day” invited them to experience the wonder of God’s world in hands-on and reflective ways. They brought along the Year of Jubilee’s Mascot Luce with them.
Day 1 – Light and Darkness: In a darkened classroom lit by candles and fairy lights, students reflected on how God’s light shines in the world.
Day 2 – Land and Seas: Outside, they enjoyed bubbles and water painting, exploring God’s gift of water and sky.
Day 3 – Plants: Each child planted a seed in the garden, learning how life begins from something small and grows with care.
Day 4 – Sun, Moon, and Stars: Lying on blankets, the children watched the clouds and spoke about how the sun, moon, and stars guide our days and nights.
Day 5 – Living Creatures of Water and Sky: In the art space, students created their own birds and fish, celebrating God’s creatures of the air and sea.
Day 6 – Land Animals and People: On a ‘creation walk,’ students looked at insects, birds and plants recognising that all are made in God’s image.
Day 7 – Rest: The pilgrimage ended with a prayer of thanks in the church, remembering God’s gift of rest and gratitude for the world around us.
It was a beautiful day filled with curiosity, creativity, and prayer. The Prep Pilgrimage reminded us all of the goodness of God’s creation and how we are called to care for it. We look forward to seeing the pilgrimages continue across the year as each year level embarks on their own journey of faith.
Plans for a New Church
in Point Cook
Our parish, Holy Trinity Parish, one of the largest in the Melbourne Archdiocese, is planning to build a new Church in Point Cook.
Over the past few months, parishioners across our mass centres have attended briefing sessions about this exciting project. After many years of discussion, the vision for a new Church is now beginning to take shape.
To make this dream a reality, the parish is starting to raise funds to purchase land and build the church, with an estimated cost of $10–11 million. As a first step, all parish families are invited to consider making a financial pledge—this is not an immediate donation, but a sign of what you might be able to contribute in the future.
Parishioners are encouraged to fill out a Commitment Form, which can be returned in secure boxes at each mass centre. This will help the parish understand how much support is available and begin planning the next steps. If you are interested in supporting the parish please fill out a commitment form which can be found at the St Martin de Porres Church.
With enough support, the goal is to purchase land in 2026 and begin building the new church over the following three to five years.
Further updates will be shared through parish bulletins, announcements at Mass, and on the parish website.
