11ART Watercolour Studies Excursion

On Friday the 27th of February the Year 11 Art Making & Exhibiting class participated in an excursion to Mordialloc Creek. The purpose was to gain experience with different materials for Unit 1 Outcome 1, a task where students need to experiment with various different materials from different artforms (drawing, printmaking, painting). They spent the morning painting landscape studies with Mordialloc Creek and Bridge as subject matter using watercolour paint.

Quotes from the Year 11 Students about the experience:

“I enjoyed being outside, enjoying the nature and being able to try water colour while having something right in front of me, it was really relaxing”

“I enjoyed being outside in nature and doing something outside of school, different from writing in the classroom.”

“I found the excursion a very calming and enjoyable experience. It helped me better understand how water colours worked and how to use them. It also gave a nice scene to paint. I would very much like to do it again.”

“I enjoyed being able to look up and physically see what I was painting instead of having to use a picture or photo for reference”
