Our Let's TALK Launch is fast approaching! Meet our newly trained BUDDIES (see below)

Last term, students from Years 3 to 6 completed the Buddy Training for the "Let's TALK Program" in their classrooms as a part of their SEL (Social and Emotional Learning). The aim of the training was to give students an appreciation of the fundamental need to be ‘seen, heard & valued’ and learn the ‘TALK’ steps to be comfortable and confident to support another student, or reach out for support when they have a concern.   Creating a safe environment to share experiences is key to ensure that the concepts and topics of the program are understood and resonates with the students. However, it is not compulsory for students to participate, share their experiences, perform the roleplays OR volunteer to be a Let's TALK Buddy. The training was purely an opportunity for self development, if and when the student is ready.

They were all then given the opportunity to volunteer to become "Let's TALK Buddies" if they wished.

We wish to thank ALL students who offerred to become 'Let's TALK Buddies'.  We received an OVERWHELMING RESPONSE from our Years 3 to 6 students for this expression of interest in becoming a buddy with 45 students volunteering.   As we want to provide more than one chance to practice using the training template, we will accept half of the students in Term 3 and enlist the help of the other half in Term 4.
