Maths Club:

Teacher-extraordinaire Sharon Fraser is an exceptional resource person for our staff with regards to all things Maths and Numeracy related.
She is now running a lunchtime maths club to support and challenge children to grow their maths skills and understanding and to have fun while doing so.
Some of the children who attend are volunteers, helping others with their learning as a generous gesture. This is a great example of our caring, contributing, collaborative and cooperative culture here.
I often use the phrase, to teach is to learn twice. There is no doubt that we can think we know and understand something only to discover when trying to explain or teach it, that we haven't quite grasped it. This is one great advantage of mixed-ability collaborative group work and problem solving.
On that topic, I shared this with staff at our Monday Morning Meeting:
Baba Hari Dass, a yoga master and monk who kept a vow of silence from 1952 until his death in 2018, on learning:
"Teach in order to learn."
