Bush School Worm Farm :
The EcoMatters environment trust has funded the purchase of two worm farms to add to our ever growing kete (basket) of sustainable practices at Western Heights.
Our Wednesday crew came up with a plan, assembled the farm (which was surprisingly easy) and met our new friends, approximately 2000 tiger worms.
Their task - the Tiger Worms, not the Wednesday Crew - is Vvermicomposting. This, along with cold composting is one of the many experiences tamariki will encounter on their Bush school day.
Scrap collection bins have been placed in some classes and more importantly in the staffroom, because worms like coffee just as much as the teachers!
