Carevan – Term 3 2026

Sadly, Term 3 Carevan was our last Carevan for 2026. It has been wonderful to see the variety of students from different year groups getting involved, volunteering their time and helping support this great community initiative.

This term, we were fortunate to have a substitute teacher who was already preparing the vegetables for our fried rice. With everyone working together, we added all the ingredients and prepared a delicious and nutritious meal. The fried rice was amazingly scrumptious, and we were able to provide meals for up to 200 people, many of whom complimented the students on the nutritious and delicious meal they had prepared.

Opportunities like Carevan are a wonderful way for our young people to become actively involved in both our school and local community. Through volunteering, students develop important skills such as teamwork, responsibility, communication and leadership, while also learning the value of giving back and supporting others.

A big thank you to all the students who volunteered their time this term. Your willingness to help, serve, and make a difference in our community is truly appreciated.

YES Program

Year 9 students Lincoln Breuling, Manro Meyer, Huntah Watts, and Anthony D'Ambrosio participated in the YES Program over five weeks at TAFE Griffith, from 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM.

The YES Program is a proposed Youth Engagement Strategy with an initiative that offers students a valuable opportunity to experience vocational training in a supportive, engaging environment.

The YES program is designed to re-engage students aged 15–17 who are at risk of disengaging from school. It focuses on developing employability and foundation skills through vocational learning. The program offers tailored educational pathways and individual learning plans to help students reconnect with formal education. It also introduces alternative education and training options while showcasing potential employment pathways.

TAFE NSW’s YES model delivers fun, hands-on activities that promote learning and support positive re-engagement outcomes.

The students got to experience an introduction to the Future Tradies workshops, which involved the following:

·         Construction

·         Welding

·         Soils/Crops/Pastures

·         Wool classing/Shearing

·         Challenge Day

Each student enjoyed the experience, and some are looking into getting a trade after working towards work experience in Year 10, 2027.
