Feeding, Forage & Water at Camps & Multi-Day Events guide

Pony Club Australia’s new ‘Feeding, Forage & Water at Pony Club Camps and Multi-Day Events' guide has been developed to help clubs, event organisers, riders and parents put the PCA Horse Welfare Policy into practice.
The guide provides practical advice to help ensure horses have appropriate access to forage, food and clean water throughout Pony Club camps and multi-day events.
It covers:
- How much forage to plan for each day
- Daytime and overnight forage
- The PCA requirement that horses must not go more than six hours without access to foodat a Pony Club event
- Clean and reliable water provision
- Keeping a horse’s normal diet as consistent as possible while away
Practical checklists for organisers, riders and parents
Whether you are organising an event, preparing to attend a Pony Club camp or supporting a rider, this guide is a useful resource to help plan for the nutritional and welfare needs of horses while away from home.
We encourage clubs, event organisers, riders and parents to read the guide and consider how its recommendations can be incorporated into their planning.
You can find the guide on the PCA website, or on our website here.
