Creative Careers Day – AMCI and Koorie Heritage Trust
On Friday 14th November, our First Nations students visited AMCI, where they were welcomed with morning tea. They then heard from Gavin Somers (Butchulla/Gubbi Gubbi), Director of Community Engagement & First Nations, along with Christine Evely, Head of Education and Public Programs, who led an engaging creative careers panel. Students took part in hands-on workshops where they made realistic props, including vomit, blood and bird poo, just as film production. This experience opened their eyes to the many creative pathways available in the screen and film industry; this was the whole purpose of the day! Afterwards, students visited the Koorie Heritage Trust for a self-guided exploration of the galleries and exhibitions. Overall, our Koorie students had a deadly day, and this event was a wonderful way to conclude the year.
We wish everyone a joyful Christmas and a Happy New Year. We look forward to welcoming our new Year 7 Koorie students in 2026!
