Year 10 Market Day

Our Year 10 Money Matters classes held their Market Day during recess on Friday 14th November, displaying their creativity and teamwork while learning business skills.  In the lead up to the event, students formed teams and developed product ideas before researching materials, calculating unit costs, determining break-even points, setting sell prices and planning their marketing. Each student was allocated $20 to pool with their team, allowing them to purchase materials and create products for their stall.

Market Day was supported by students and staff and our Money Matters teams did a fantastic job promoting and selling their products. Students gained valuable insight into what it takes to run a small business, including developing skills in financial capability, critical thinking, problem solving and project management. The teams then calculated whether they made a profit or loss; the profits will be donated to The Cancer Council.

Congratulations to our Money Matters students for the many hours they spent planning, preparing and reflecting on their learning. A big thank you also goes to their parents and carers who supported shopping trips and preparations and to all students and staff who visited the stalls and helped make the event a success.
