Year 8

Emma Stevenson / Matilda Finch

Our Year 8 cohort enjoyed a wonderful picnic together on 26th November, turning a single school period into a vibrant celebration of community, fun and connection. Despite a forecast that looked ready to wash the afternoon out, the weather held off beautifully, allowing students and staff to make the most of every minute.

The barbecue was a big hit, with students lining up for sausages and cold drinks before spreading out across the oval and Marvel to enjoy music, games and plenty of relaxed conversation with friends. Some students even took the opportunity to have their faces painted; adding colour, creativity and a bit of fun to the day.    A variety of games were available for students who wanted to keep active, while others simply enjoyed sitting together chatting and unwinding. It was a joy to see the Year 8's laughing, connecting and celebrating the end of term as a cohort.

A heartfelt thank you to the staff who prepared, cooked, supervised and supported the event. Your time and enthusiasm helped make the picnic such a success. And thank you to our wonderful students for their positive attitude, energy and participation. It was fantastic to see everyone enjoying themselves and making the most of the afternoon.   What a great way to finish the term together!

Our Year 8 students recently wrapped up their Probability Carnival CAT, an exciting hands-on task where groups designed and built their own two-step carnival game. Students were challenged to create a brand-new game, complete with game boards, spinners, cards, dice, prizes and clear instructions so that others could play. Students then tested each other’s games during our “Probability Carnival”, showcasing creativity, teamwork and strong mathematical thinking. It was fantastic to see the level of engagement, strategic thinking and fun throughout the CAT!
