Columba House

As we continue to work our way through Semester 2, it is essential to acknowledge some of the achievements that Columba House made in Term 2.
Firstly, it was great to see so many Columba students participating in the House Cross Country on 12 May. Overall, Columba managed to get on the podium coming in 3rd place with some stand out performances including Loi & Holly (Yr 7), Angelo & Joshlyn (Yr 8), Michael & Sandra (Yr 9), Nevin & Nyawichar (Yr 10), Lily (Yr 11), Marnath & Katrina (Yr 12). These efforts will continue to push Columba to challenge for the House Cup in 2025.
Also, that week, St John's celebrated Founders Day, and as always, the Talent Quest was a big hit on the day. Once again, Columba represented with some amazing performances. Well done to the following students: Ali, Joshlyn, Lagi, Thenujee, Lexmie, Desika who all performed on stage in front of the entire school. And who could forget that the entire Talent Quest was hosted by Columba staff members Mr Eamonn Farrelly and Mr Mark Alexander, who put on an unforgettable show.
Term 2 also commenced the beginning of the Inaugural House MacKillop Cup. This is the competition that is running between all the Columba homerooms. For the past 6 weeks, homerooms have competed in all sorts of challenges for points to claim being the homeroom champions and winning the Mackillop Cup. Challenges have included a Volleyball tournament, Darts, Kahoots, Quizzes, Spelling Bees, Learning Mentor Portrait Drawings, Best Jokes and more. This competition ends week 3 of Term 3 with a few more challenges to come, including UNO, Basketball knockouts, sprints, etc. The following is the current leader board:
MACKILLOP CUP:
CO1 170 points, CO2 163 points, CO3 161points, CO4 159 points, CO5 170 points.
Finally, throughout the term, Columba House has been raising funds for MAD day in homeroom (which added to the MacKillop Cup) but also through Sausage Sizzles, activities and the final day 8km walk.
Good Luck to all students in Term 3 with studies and co-curricular activities.
