CYBER SAFETY
Susan McLean Cyber-Safety Presentation:
Helping Young People & Parents Navigate the Online World
In today's digital age, young people are more connected than ever. Through websites, apps, games, and social media, they can reach—and be reached by—millions of people worldwide. While this offers exciting opportunities to learn, socialise and explore the world, it also presents real risks. These include cyberbullying, online harassment, identity theft, exposure to inappropriate content, and in some cases, grooming by online predators.
All parents and students are invited to attend a presentation by Susan McLean, a leading Australian expert in Cyber-Safety and presenter and advisor for schools, on Monday 11 August at St John’s College. Susan will explore the risks of the online world and educate parents on how best to support their teenage children through topics such as:
- Popular apps and platforms kids use
- Online grooming – warning signs and prevention
- Cyberbullying – what it looks like and legal consequences
- Problematic Gaming
- Managing Screen Time
- Exposure to harmful content and how to protect children
- The dangers of sharing explicit images
