Book Week Dress Up Day

It's time to start planning those costumes and dusting off your favourite book characters because our Book Week Dress Up Day will be held on Monday 24th August! We can't wait to see our students and staff bring their favourite stories to life during our annual Book Week celebrations.

WE WANT OUR PARENTS / CARERS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK! 

Our school is conducting the annual Parent / Carer Opinion Survey offered by the Department of Education and is seeking your feedback. The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement. The survey is optional, but we encourage and appreciate your participation.

Our school will use the survey results to assist in identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies. 

The Parent / Carer Opinion Survey will be open online from Monday 17 August to Friday 18 September 2026.

All families are invited to participate in the survey. Families will receive an email via Compass with the survey link, password and pin on the 31st August 2026.

The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones. 

The online survey will be available in English and 10 other languages including Arabic, Greek, Hakha Chin, Hindi, Japanese, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Turkish, and Vietnamese. Resources are also available in additional languages to assist parents / carers who speak a language other than English at home. Please reach out to your child’s teacher, or the school directly for survey guides in your language.

Tzu Chi University Students Visit Charlton College

During the first week of August, Charlton College welcomed two visiting students from Tzu Chi University in Taiwan, Jasmine and Joyeen. Jasmine is from Taiwan, while Joyeen is from Malaysia. The pair were part of the Tzu Chi University Goodwill Ambassador team, which recently travelled to Malaysia, Singapore and Australia, presenting their theatre production, “Let Technology More Friendly”.

During their visits, they enjoyed meeting and interacting with students, observing classes and sharing about Taiwan, Malaysia, university life and their experiences overseas. Their visit provided our students with a wonderful opportunity to learn about different cultures and connect with young people from overseas.

Assembly

Our mid-term whole school assembly was held on Monday. We heard from the students about SLC happenings and recent Sporting events. 

At the midway point of the term students have been acknowledged for 516 positive behaviours. 135 for resilience, 154 for respect and 227 for responsibility. This is a great start, and puts us in good stead to reach the 1000 mark and fill the gumball machine prior to the end of term. Heidi and Ned won the draw, and each received a Rex Cinema voucher. We thank the Rex for their ongoing support. 

Term 3, tends to be the term when all kinds of bugs go around the school. 2026 has been no exception, with only 34 students having attended all classes to date this term. The lucky attendee, who also received a Rex Cinema voucher, was Will. Let’s all do our best to stay well the second half of the term and get to all our classes.
