Last Thursday night we had an amazing night with The Wizard of Oz performance by our Year 5/ 6 students. Chrissy Jedrys put in long hours to make this a wonderful night. As promised here are a sample of some of the fabulous photos that will soon be released.
Big week of events coming up
Next week we have a huge week filled with student events.
On Monday and Tuesday, the year 3/ 4 students will be involved in a stop- motion incursion. The students will participate a full day Digi Ed Claymation Incursion discovering the exciting world of Stop Motion Animation and experience the magic of film production. This incursion designed to improve teamwork and literacy while channelling creativity and imagination and give them the basic skills to design their own Stop Motion. They will be taught how to write a narrative, create clay characters, design backdrops, shoot and edit footage, and add titles, music and sound effects.
On Wednesday we will be celebrating Book Week with our dress up Day Parade and Author visits.
On Thursday the year 5/6 students will be visiting Sovereign Hill as part of their inquiry unit. This will enable the Year 5/6 students to explore first-hand what the Victorian Gold Fields were like in the 1850's. The students will have an opportunity to wander the through old printer, grocer and sweet shops, see an old silent movie at the theatre, watch gold smelting and black smithing, dress up for primary school, play a game at the bowling alley, see musket firing, visit the Chinese Camp, pan for gold and even descend into the Red Hill Mine. This is always a great excursion with so many experiences packed into the day.
Year 1 children will be heading over to Edendale farm for their excursion to learn about why Edendale Farm and the surrounding land is significant to the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people. They will also learn about the different types of features that make up places – natural, man-made, and managed and importantly, the Eltham Copper Butterfly and how changes to its habitat over time, particularly due to urbanisation, have impacted this rare species
Our Year students will be travelling to Healesville Sanctuary for the day. Students will be exploring and learning about a range of animals to support their upcoming Information Report writing in literacy.
Parent/Carer Opinion survey
Our school is conducting the annual Parent / Carer Opinion Survey and is seeking your feedback. The survey, offered by the Department of Education, is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement.
Your opinions are important to us and will contribute to identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies. The department will use the results from the survey for research purposes and to improve outcomes for students.
The survey will be conducted online and only takes 20 minutes to complete. It can be completed on any internet enabled device (desktop computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone) and is compatible with most browsers.
The survey is available in English and 10 other languages: Arabic, Greek, Hakha Chin, Hindi, Japanese, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Turkish, and Vietnamese. If you require assistance in another language, resources may be available for you. Please reach out to your child’s teacher, or the school if you require assistance in another language.
